Technology Assessment and Briefing
Many small companies are using technology today, but using it ineffectively. Without in-house expertise, it can be extremely difficult for a small or mid-size company to stay on top of technology developments. As consultants, Irish Rose Consulting personnel spend a lot of time tracking new technology. We can meet with your staff to determine how technology might be applied to your processes to make them more efficient. At the same time, we understand that technology alone is not a solution. We won't recommend technology solutions if we don't feel they will help. Our objective in a technology assessment is to be an impartial ally in helping you improve your business. Additionally, if you have questions about new technology, we can walk you through an explanation of this technology without all the jargon.
Request-for-Proposal Drafting/Software Specification
If you are considering hiring a contractor for a software development project, you may need to produce a Request-for-Proposal (RFP) to solicit bids. In order to receive accurate bids, you will want to specify your needs in as much detail as possible. Irish Rose Consulting can assist you in drafting your RFP so that you can have a successful solicitation. Very often a software need can be determined by conducting a Technology Assessment, and the RFP drafting will follow from that process. We can also draft a stand-alone Software Specification document which will state in detail the requirements for a new software project.
Software Design
For all but the smallest software projects, it's important to do a detailed design document. As a client, the software design document allows you to make sure that the developer understands what you need from the software. Upon completion of a software design document, most developers will be able to give you an accurate estimate of the cost involved in developing the software. Generally, the software design document will be completed by the same developer that will write the software, but not in all cases. Irish Rose Consulting has extensive experience in drafting software designs, and can provide assistance to in-house developers for projects when needed.
Software Development
Software development is the final implementation of all the steps described above. Irish Rose Consulting develops software for all Microsoft Windows platforms. Some of the tools we use are Microsoft Visual Basic, Access, FoxPro, SQL Server and Visual C++.
